Professional Background

Life before freelancing?
  • Worked as a Communications Analyst at PECO Energy (95-97) doing corporate communications;
  • Assistant Director of Development Communications at the University of Pennsylvania (92-95) ghostwriting for the president and managing staff writers;
  • Project Writer for a National Science Foundation grant at the Franklin Institute Science Museum (88-91) creating an interactive computer Intranet that interpreted scientific principles of 18 exhibit topics for adults, children (ages 6-8 + 9-11), and preschoolers;
  • Planner with the National Park Service (87-88) helping communities balance conservation and development needs along river ways;
  • And began lobbying as an intern with American Rivers in DC (86).
